Glenridding

Glenridding is a small, compact village located close to the southern end of Ullswater.  Glenridding suffered quite badly in the aftermath of storm Desmond in 2015 with some businesses only getting back on their feet in late 2016.  It has two major hotels, a pub, various  cafes, restaurants and shops providing food, crafts and outdoor equipment. All of whom will welcome your support and business.

Ullswater Steamers operate from the pier in Glenridding and there is a Lake District Tourist Information centre in the village.

About the Area

The Lake District National Park is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Britain. While thousands flock towards the tourist honey-spots of Windermere and Ambleside, just across the Kirkstone Pass, on the other side of the watershed, lies Ullswater.  Ullswater is quieter and less developed and enclosed by some of the best hills for walking in the entire National Park. Stunning views, wondrous natural features and an ever changing landscape make this a perfect location for your holiday.

Ullswater is a great location from which to sample all the benefits a Lake District holiday has to offer; fantastic views, great places to eat and drink, wonderful lake cruises.

Glenridding also provides a superb base for walking and other outdoor activities which include; sailing, canoeing, motor and rowing boat hire,  pony trekking, quad biking, skiing! and fishing - all also only a short distance away.  Beautiful walks cater for all ability and fitness levels with low level walks by the lake or in the surrounding valleys  and classic high level walks, including Striding Edge and Swirral Edge on Helvellyn.
